Jim Oldham is better known as Jim O'Brien, a name he adopted as he made his way up to Philadelphia in radio at WFIL and television at WPVI-TV. Sadly he passed away in Philly pursuing one of his passions, skydiving.
As a Texan, he spoke fondly of working radio in the Lone Star State. In one of those conversations, he shared the O'Brien theory of estimating salaries in those smaller markets. If a station had mediocre equipment, they paid well, if they had excellent equipment, watch out.
Jim would sometimes share the mic with his young daughter, Peri Key Oldham. She later became Peri Gilpin and played Roz Doyle on the TV series Frazer.
