This was 1974 with KIMN and KTLK locked in mortal combat. At the time Big Ron doing aftenoon drive at KTLK. After a while KIMN with Danny Davis opposite Big Ron won out. Ron had round two in Denver in the 1990's at country Big Dog.
Before rockin', KTLK pioneered a talk format in 1963 with Joe Finan.

Big Ron was one of my all time favs...I heard him in Des Moines (where he grew up) at FM Stereo KYNA a station that blew me away in 1971. Dickie Shannon, Chuck Morgan, and John Harding (Krantz) all worked there. It was startling the amount of talent that was on display on an FM stereo station, a novelty for the times. I was at KRNT doing nights playing MOR music and Arthur Godfrey delayed broadcasts. How I yearned to be on KYNA!
