Those old Fabulous KIMN days seem almost surreal and so hard to imagine given today's radio landscape. KIMN first rocked with owner Cecil Heftel, who famously addressed a broadcast group with, paraphrasing, at my stations talent drive Cadillacs, sales people drive Fords because they make their living off the back of talent. Then local ownership under Ken Palmer who brought in PD Ted Atkins, and ratings continued to soar. It all started going downhill in 1970 when Palmer sold the stations and corporate radio began moving in. The talent pool that made it to Sloan's Lake was simply remarkable. Miss you, Pogo.
