I was probably the biggest fan of Gary Stevens when he was jocking on WIL Radio. His high energy level inspired me to enter radio later on in life. I attended a number of his live remotes, including the remote the night before the day the Forest Park Highlands burned. He will forever remain a milestone in my life as a teenager. Thank you, Gary!

I grew up listening to Fun Radio WIL 1430 in St. Louis. Gary filled Big Dan Ingram's spot when he went to WABC in NYC. Later, Dan had Ron Lundy brought to WABC which is now history. One evening, Gary said if we'd block all 4 lanes of Lindall Blvd. with our cars, (WIL studios were in the Corondo Hotel at Spring and Lindall) he would give us coupons for FREE pizzas! We did and he did.
We got a tour of the station when the 3 Top 40 stations were duking it out for ratings in St. Louis...WIL, KXOK and KWK....it's all gone now.
