Sam and I moved from San Diego to LA in 1959. He left his spot on KDEO to hit the big time at KRLA. We shared an apt. in the Los Felez area for a short time to help with costs. I took a job as a record promoter at Central Distributors on Pico Blvd (that’s where they all were). I went on to producing records. My first was “A Thousand Stars” sung by Kathy Young on the Indigo label. It was a huge hit. Sam accused me of setting the music business back 10 years.
